SNT Biotech founder and CEO Shital Daftari was featured in 360Dx, a GenomeWeb publication, in an article examining why uptake of at-home HPV self-collection has lagged despite multiple FDA approvals, and the role health plans can play in changing that.
Daftari told 360Dx that health plans are beginning to look at how they can engage their populations and encourage screening. She noted that “just having an FDA-approved test is not enough,” and that health plans need to meet patients where they are. One of the biggest hurdles, she said, is getting people to return their swabs, which calls for infrastructure and wholly integrated models where clinicians can follow up with patients and track who has returned a test.
The article notes that SNT Biotech is a go-to-market partner for Waters, helping get the FDA-cleared BD Onclarity HPV Self-Collection Kit into the hands of patients by mailing kits to homes, nudging members to send them back, and delivering results to primary care. It is the integrated model behind at-home screening that closes the gap, not the test alone.
Starting in 2027, federal guidelines will require most private plans to cover self-collected HPV tests with no out-of-pocket cost. Plans that build the outreach, return, and follow-up infrastructure now will be ready to reach their under-screened members as coverage expands. That end-to-end model, from member outreach through results in an accredited lab, is what SNT Biotech delivers.
